Golden West College is offering students free meals [from Bracken's Kitchen] for the first week back to school to help them start the semester on the right foot.

The event, which provided free meals to students during Welcome Week [from Bracken's Kitchen], was a partnership of the nonprofit that tackles food insecurity and the college, as well as the Huntington Beach Police Department and Republic Services.

Every day at Bracken’s Kitchen, we see the difference a meal, an opportunity, and a little kindness can make. Hungry Games 9.0 is our biggest fundraiser of the year, with a goal of raising $600,000 to help fuel our community feeding, food rescue, and culinary training programs across Southern California.

Bill Bracken is the founder and executive director of Bracken’s Kitchen — a nonprofit that specializes in food rescue, culinary training and feeding the community. In the summer, he said, children suffer the most, and the same can be said for some college students.
