LA Fire Meal Response
In response to the recent crisis, we have been working with World Central Kitchen as they mobilize and efficiently meet the needs of LA County as it arises.
We have currently been assigned a feeding site by World Central Kitchen in Sylmar, as a drop off situation. That said, we are committed to 200 meals for lunch AND 200 meals for dinner through this coming week (till the 18th at the moment) and we have also committed 300 meals to a different site for Monday and Tuesday. About 700 meals/day on top of our regular production. We are on currently in discussion about another site in Pasadena, stay in the loop!
Our current needs are: Drivers - we need someone to drive the food to Sylmar every day this week. You will need to drive your vehicle (SUV or van) if possible! SIGN UP IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
FEED THE NEED
It is estimated that more than 500,000 Orange County residents are food insecure, which means that they are consistently forced to choose between food and other life necessities on a regular basis. We are blessed to be able to rescue thousands of pounds of food diverted from landfills and re-purpose it into healthy, delicious meals for our friends and neighbors in need. Additionally, our culinary training program offers students a hand-up and out of poverty.
The fact remains that we would not be able to feed as many people as we’ve been able to over the past ten years without your support. We work hard to be responsible stewards of your gifts. Last year we provided just under 2 million meals because of generous people like you.
