RESCUED FOOD PROGRAM
BRACKEN'S KITCHEN AIMS TO RESCUE 280 TONS OF EDIBLE UNUSED FOOD IN 2024!

The core of our rescued food program is to rescue leftover cuisine and turn it into healthy and nutritious meals for those who need it most. In doing so we will not only be able to provide the necessary food supplies at a much lower cost than our current program, but we will also become “The” source for freshly prepared hot and healthy meals made available to other hunger relief agencies and housing shelters who are not able to provide their own high-quality food.
Food waste in American continues to be of major concern with 35-40% of our food supply ending up unconsumed in the landfill. Our Culinary Trio of Services mutually benefits eachother to reduce this problem. With over 500,000 pounds of rescued food coming into our kitchen each year, we are able to use that food to teach and train our students while feeding our friends and neighbors in need. According to the USDA, more than 38 million people, including 12 million children, in the US are food insecure.

The solution to hunger relief in America isn’t to grow, produce or purchase more food. We just need to stop wasting the food we already have now.

The heart of our Culinary Trio of Services is to help feed the need in a sustainable way while empowering those that we feed. Rescuing tons of edible food that would otherwise go to waste and turning it into a beautiful, nutritious meal.
Just how much food do Americans waste?
Here’s some “food” for thought: You could fill the Rose Bowl everyday with the
amount of food wasted in
the United States!
That’s estimated to be 30-40 percent of the entire US food supply!
