Hungry? Before you sate that urge, consider the fact that nearly 400,000 people in Orange County – including one in five children – are at risk of hunger every month. Chef Bill Bracken wants us to think about this every time we enjoy a bite.
From his outpost in Garden Grove, Bracken’s Kitchen, the chef has created a movement. The facility serves over 1,200 meals every week to those most at risk of going hungry. While chef Bracken’s work has filled a need in Orange County, it’s also garnered the attention and respect of chefs around the country. In May, Roy Choi’s “Broken Bread” docu-series featured Bracken mindfully feeding children, seniors and veterans. In those scenes, the chef showcased his inspired mission: providing free and nutritious meals to those in OC who struggle most with hunger.
